INTRODUCTION
As Netizens, it is important to keep up with the daily slangs and trends. However, more than that, it is important to see how these trends coalesce with previously existing mainstream internet pockets. We can often feel overwhelmed by the amount of data that we are required to know in the internet age. But no worries, this course aims at equipping you with the knowledge you require to keep up in this fast-paced digital world.
If you haven’t heard the ubiquitous terms “Chad”, “Alpha Male”, “Stacy”, “Beta Move”, and “Trixie” then you might want to step back inside your house, because you’ve spent too much time outside touching grass. But no worries, you have this course now. Just hold my hand and walk with me.
Today we’ll be discussing “Chad” and “Chad move”, and I consider it my duty to enlighten you about the proper implementation of these terms. My convivial teaching methods will entail a comparison based study of the various Disney princesses and a rating of each on a CHAD-O-METER scale. I assure you that after doing the course you will come out wiser than before.
LESSON 1: VOCABULARY BUILDING
First things first, what IS a Chad? It is an internet slang for an attractive, confident, genetically fit white male. He’s tall, he’s strong, and he gets ALL the ladies. While you struggle to cross the busy Delhi roads, this man simply strolls across as the cars slow down to appreciate the sheer power that radiates from his flexing calves.
The term “Chad move” obviously originated from “Chad”, but has slowly morphed into a more generic term, not restricted with the race and gender boundaries that “Chad” carries with it. It refers to an unexpected and cocky move. A gutsy move. A “Damn, I could NEVER do that” move
It doesn’t matter if the end result of the move was not what you wanted. It could be a total failure, and still be a Chad move. Which is why you should never shy away from making one!
LESSON 2: DISNEY PRINCESS OVERVIEW AND THE CHAD-O-METER SCALE
Till date, there are 40 Disney princesses. But only 4 concern us: Stubborn Redhead Merida, New Orlean’s Darling Tiana, China’s Girlboss Mulan and the Ocean’s Chosen One Moana. We will see the actions that make these ladies: Chads, and the advice their stories can offer us.
To quantify the levels of Chad, after hours of deliberation and discussion, the perfect scale was devised: The CHAD-O-METER. It measures from 1 to 10 with 1 being, “Woah, that’s impressive” and 10 being “THAT’S INSANE”.
LESSON 3: KEEP HUSTLIN’ FOR IT, BABY (TIANA FROM THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG)
“You wish and you dream with all your heart. But remember, that old star can only take you part of the way. You got to help it with some hard work of your own. That’s why I NEVER skip leg day.”

She transmogrified into a frog and took on a frenetic lunatic with her own two webbed hands! She defeats spirits from a different realm! She lands herself a man who truly cares for her on the way, becomes best-friends with a trumpet playing crocodile and has all her dreams come true. How? Hard work. And nothing else.
Tiana’s entire theme is that she is driven. She’s scrupulous. She wakes up, works towards owning her very own restaurant, sleeps for 5 seconds, and wakes up again. In the first quarter of the movie we are shown a scene in which Tiana comes home after working a long night shift at Cal’s, and then immediately changes her clothes to go to her morning shift at the local diner, Duke’s.
I can hear your thoughts. “Chad moves are spontaneous and explosive! This really isn’t a Chad move,” you cry. But it is! The hardest thing to do on Earth is to stay consistent. How many times have you decided that you will definitely ace the next semester? Or that you will exercise everyday, come rain, hail or snow? You do it for 3-4 days, max, and then it’s back to how it was. Consistency requires grit, effort and determination. These are all qualities of a Chad.

LESSON 4: SHOW THE WORLD WHAT YOU REALLY WANT (MERIDA FROM BRAVE)
“There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be a Chad enough to see it. Like me. I can see it. I can see it very well.”

Merida’s Chad moment was when she was forced to witness an archery contest to choose herself a groom. After being stuffed into a tiny dress by her mother, she is sat down to witness men compete for her hand in marriage in an archery contest. It is a scene straight out of Draupadi’s Swayamvar, except Draupadi is Norse, visibly fuming, and has no time for her suitors. The archery contest is slowly proving itself to be a joke, with the competitors struggling to rise up to the challenge.
But then, a cloaked person steps up. A tumble of red curls flash…It’s Merida herself, stretching the bowstring! She performs an unimaginable feat! One mark! Two arrows, one splitting the other down the middle! She has won her own hand in marriage. I hope you are making notes, dear students, because this is an ABSOLUTE Chad move. The other princesses are shaking. It is unfair of Merida’s parents to force her into a marriage, but Merida, without breaking a single rule, shows to the world what she really wants—Freedom.
And you should do the same.

LESSON 5: SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF (MULAN FROM MULAN)
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. I water my flowers with only the best protein shakes, so that my flowers bloom better than your flowers.”

An easy lesson, this one. Mulan simply oozes strength and courage. She comes with a head screwed tightly onto her shoulders, and a strong sense of family.
When the war against the Huns breaks out, men from the villages are forcefully drafted.
Upon realizing that her ailing father would have to join the military, she steps up to take his place. At the time, the concept of a woman joining the army was unacceptable. However, Mulan decides to cross-dress and join the Chinese army.
Moments like these differentiate a regular move from a Chad move. Mulan is at her worst during this scene. She has just been told that she will never bring her family honor, and has been put in her place by her father. Yet she decides to trade safety for a parlous state of life.
Despite the conditions she makes an astounding decision which shows her mental strength.

LESSON 6: DON’T HESITATE TO STRAY FROM THE PATH (MOANA FROM MOANA)
“I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea, and restore the heart of Te Fiti. And trust me, you will still find the energy to hit the bench press tonight.”

Her father said no. Her mother said no. Every single inhabitant of their island said no. But Moana said yes.
Moana’s entire storyline exists because she is a non-conformist. When the time comes to break a rule and go her own way, she does, despite being plagued by self doubts and a people pleasing personality weighing her down. In the song sequence “How Far I’ll Go”, Moana struggles between leaving her island to follow her heart, and making her parents proud.
“I can lead with pride
I can make us strong
I’ll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a different song
What is wrong with me?”
After this song sequence she proceeds to hop into a boat, row herself into a tempest, and nearly drowns.
So take the other path, even if it means almost drowning. Sometimes that’s the only way to not end up yearning for a life you could have had.
