The Finance and Economics Society of NSIT commenced its much awaited Business Conclave, Consilium, for the year 2016, with a speaker session, held on 8th February, with the aim of quenching the thirst of the students in attendance for knowledge on the start up culture. The theme for the session was ‘Startup Culture versus the Traditional Corporate Setup’.
The first speaker on the dias was the experienced executive director of the Tourism And Finance Corporation India Limited, B M Gupta . With an impeccable educational background (an alumnus of SRCC and FMS) backing him, he enlightened the audience about the changes in the startup culture through the years, starting from the 70’s and highlighted how there has been a boost in the opportunities for today’s generation.
The session continued with Prashant Priyadarshini, Founder and COO of the startup- Indian Startup Factory. He brought forward the steps to a successful startup, and emphasized on the single thing to be kept in mind – the interests of the consumer market. He told the young and dynamic audience about how a clear vision is undoubtedly the quintessential key to victory.
Raman Chandna, Partner Investments at Edelweiss Family Office and Institutional Group, was the youngest speaker for the day . Chandna provided helpful insights about the many facets of startups and the fact that one needn’t form a company to bring a new concept to the consumers. One can simply join hands with an established institute and thus, the purpose can be served with the added benefit of financial security that the institute provides. He concluded by stating that though the concepts of various recent startups are unique, they might not be the most sustainable models and all things considered, in the end, one should follow his/her passions.
The speaker session, wonderfully organised by the Finance and Economics Society, was, in a nutshell, quite a delightful learning experience. Consilium 2016 will be held on 13th and 14th February. For more updates, check out the website : www.consiliumnsit.com . See you there!
